Burn Ordinance

The Village Board amended the Burn Ordinance at the Regular Meeting on Monday, September 14, 2015. The ordinance spells out as to what kind of fires and materials may be burned. Landscape waste, which is defined as and limited to grass or shrubbery cuttings, leaves, tree limbs, and other like materials accumulated as a result of the care of lawns, shrubbery, vines, and trees, generated solely from the property where the burning is to occur, shall be permitted year round. No burning of such landscape waste shall commence prior to 8:00 A.M. nor shall it be allowed later than sunset. All such fires shall be fully extinguished at or before sunset. The burning of landscape waste is permitted only on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, within the hours set forth above, unless any of these days falls on Halloween and/or days designated by the Village Board for community-wide trick or treating, in which case such burning is prohibited. Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this Chapter shall, upon conviction, be fined no less than $150.00 nor more than $300.00 for each and every offense.

A copy of the ordinance is available at the Village Hall on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between the hours of 8:00AM and 3:30PM if you would like to pick up a copy.
