New Utilities Scam

There have been reports of calls asking people to purchase prepaid debit cards and asking for bank account information to pay a “supposed” utility bill.  If anyone calls you and tells you that you owe on your account and that you will be shut off if you do not pay, please hang up and call your utility company directly. These people even find a way to have Com Ed come up on your caller I.D. Be careful.

This was actually put on the website in January 2015. As of February 10, 2016 we have not heard of any new scams but always find out all the facts from a reliable source before you agree to anything over the phone. If you get a call from something like this please let us know at the Village Hall so we can look into it’s credibility.
